Mbale Trees is under the direct administrative control of METGE and was the foundation programme that preceded METGE.
The Mbale Trees Programme (MTP) aims to plant 10 million trees in the highly deforested area of Mbale in Eastern Uganda as a measure to combat the effects of climate change. We promote sustainable living, gender equality and the use of farmer-driven decisions. This programme raises awareness of the advantages of tree planting and supports communities to combat the impacts of climate change. We plant a tree for every child born in Wales!
We are looking well beyond 2020 to realise the benefits of this approach, nurturing links between Uganda and Wales.
